The Time Warp is the Rocky Horror anthem, which has spawned world records and anchored hundreds of cheap Halloween compilation albums.

The song that defines Rocky Horror for many people wasn't part of it originally. It was written because Jim Sharman believed that the B-movie sendup needed a dance craze. Sharman describes its inspiration in his book Blood and Tinsel, which was Nouvelle Vague director Jean-Luc Godard's film Bande a part, in which characters dance...the Madison.
